Honor and Remember Our Heroes of 9/11 at the Workplace
Today marks 19 years since the horrific attacks on September 11, 2001. Though this is a painful memory in United States history, all Americans must reflect, remember, and honor those who lost their lives and heroes who saved many that day. To honor the patriotic acts of 9/11, here are 6 ways that your workplace can bring honor to those effected on September 11, 2001:
- Fly the USA flag at your workplace. Flying the flag shows unity and respect the 2,996 lives and 11 unborn babies who died during the attacks, and the service members who died or were wounded in Operation Enduring Freedom. Be sure to raise your flag at half-mast to honor those who were lost.
- Schedule a blood drive at your workplace to help donate to those in need through the American Red Cross. Stand in unity with your coworkers to help those in need of a donation in the future.
- Have a moment of silence at your workplace to honor those who lost their lives in 9/11. Send out an email to your company to participate in a 60 second moment of silence today at a specific time.
- Post a photo to your company's social media page to honor those who endured tragedy on 9/11.
- Reflect on ways you can show your patriotism in and out of the workplace. Find new ways you can volunteer, educate and honor those who have lost their lives during the 9/11 attacks.
- Check-in with HR: There may already be something in progress to honor 9/11 at your workplace. If not, be sure to contact your Human Resources department for approval of any honorary activities.
